Rlisha Trotter – Writer, Poet, Author, Lyricist, Performer

Trotter is a multi-talented creative force: a freelance writer, poet, author, songwriter, and hip hop lyricist whose passion for storytelling has fueled her lifelong journey. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she grew up immersed in the city’s vibrant hip hop culture, surrounded by battles, cyphers, and talent showcases at the iconic Wealthy Street Alive.

Her academic path reflects her determination and resilience. Trotter earned her GED and later graduated from Grand Rapids Community College with an Associate’s Degree in 2012, where she also became a visible leader—her image appeared on community posters and in local magazines. She further pursued her education with an MFA in Creative Writing, performing at Black History Month rallies and advocating for women’s issues as an active member of the Black Student Union. She went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Grand Valley State University.

In 2016, Trotter relocated to Georgia and co-founded Family Fortune Entertainment with her husband. From 2017 to 2019, the company served as a creative hub, distributing music, videos, films, books, blogs, and more while offering artist support services. During this time, she released her first autobiography, A Hood Love Affair, an unflinching account of her upbringing in the midst of crime and addiction, and her journey from the streets to a life of education, family, and self-determination. She has since published additional works, including What We Do to KEEP Each Other and Baby Girl Leads the Way.

Under her stage name Molly Ones, Trotter signed artists Cheezy Scott (Grand Rapids), Duke the Singer (Jackson County), and Slick Mija (Athens, GA). She released her first audiobook HLA in 2017, along with a collaborative single featuring her label’s artists. As the music industry shifted, she reinvented herself, transitioning from selling physical CDs to embracing the digital era while carving her path as an independent rap artist.

By 2020, Trotter’s voice found another platform when she joined WXAG 92.7 as a radio personality, keeping her rooted in the music community. Reemerging as Molly Tu Hott, her rising popularity brought widespread attention, including a Flagpole Magazine cover story (July 2023) and an exclusive feature on Joker Joker TV. She has graced major venues and events such as Georgia Theatre, The Atrium, AthFest, Scrap Stock Live Wire, Athens Brest, 40 Watt, Stark Park ATL, and Fran’s Franniversary.

Beyond performance, Trotter has dedicated her talents to advocacy and community building. She partnered with the QEB Foundation in Atlanta, supporting at-risk youth and homeless initiatives, and later brought that passion for awareness and empowerment back to Athens. Hosting her own hip hop showcases, she has created platforms for emerging artists while using her voice to drive change. Her fundraisers—including Every Shade of CancerHip-Hop for the Homeless, and Queenz United Showcase—have been celebrated in the Athens Herald Banner, with her events recognized among the city’s best. She is also an active supporter of AADM, a nonprofit dedicated to justice reform and dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.

With an unshakable commitment to storytelling, performance, and social change, Arlisha Trotter continues to shape culture—on stage, on the page, and in the community—bridging art with activism and transforming lived experience into power.
